Headphones Don’t Fit (well) on iPhone 3G

July11

I was lucky enough to not have to wait in line for too long (only 3 hours) to get my 16 GB iPhone this morning. Unfortunately, by the time I got through the door they were out of the 16 GB black. So I ended up grabbing one of the last white ones - which I’m actually starting to really like. It seems to do really well when it comes to fingerprints and smudges on the back. You can only notice them on the silver apple logo. The plastic case actually feels really nice in my small hand. Congrats to KC for getting the LAST ONE at the store. He got a few comments and dirty looks on his way out of the store.

The iTunes store is (of course) having issues due to the demand, so we were allowed to bring our phones home and finish activation from home. I’ve been trying to activate mine for almost 3 hours now, and I’m not even sure that it’s fully activated. It does seem to have partially activated… weird. At least now I can make/receive calls with it.

So far I’m really happy with the phone. My only complaint (if you can call it that):

After bringing it home and activating, I tried to connect the iPhone headphones - and at first they didn’t seem to fit! Apparently they do actually fit - but they’re REALLY snug. You have to give it a good push to get that extra “click” - and that doesn’t give me the warm-n-fuzzies.

Once you get it fully connected, it doesn’t fit smoothly because it’s no longer recessed, and the back of the phone is curved. It’s the same for other headphones so it’s no just the Apple-supplied ones that do this. Not too big of a deal, but I would have expected better from Apple. Funny thing is that the new headphones fit very nicely/easily on the old iPhone.

Journal Page Created

July1

I’ve taken some time to learn a little bit about “the Loop” in WordPress and setup a page specific to my latest blog entries. Now I can keep the front page of my site to list only the news posts. I’ll finish adjusting the code and layout as I work on my website’s template.

It’s setup to use the same URL that my blog was setup to use ages ago:

Starting to Make Progress

June27

Between school work and random house chores like weeding the garden (not to mention the day job) I’ve been getting an offline development instance of my website setup. I have the VM guest finally configured and ready, the database imported, and the files copied over. Now to just tweak the settings a little so that it will run locally and not think that it’s running on the live web server!

I don’t know how much longer I can take these “default” templates. hahaha

Function Before Form

June23

My site will most likely remain pretty ugly for a while. I’m focusing on getting everything actually working the way that I want it to first. Then I’ll come back and focus on customizing the layout and elorg-ifying it.

Login Form

June22

I’ve setup a login form on the home page. I kind of hacked it together, but it works. At least it contains the links to your WordPress & Vanilla profiles, as well as the forum for now. I’ll work on cleaning it up and setting some conditions when I have time.
