As of today, the forum is back online.

Unfortunately, I gave up on migrating the old data over. There were too many discrepancies between Vanilla and bbPress database table structure and requirements. Renaming/rearranging the tables are easy enough, but I don’t have the experience or time to try to make work-arounds for the more complicated discrepancies that I found, and then hope that it doesn’t break anything. I did give it a try though.

We didn’t have any critical data on the forum, so I figured that it wouldn’t hurt too much to start from scratch. It has a very similar layout to previous incarnations, and the access has been restricted similarly as well.

I installed bbPress since it integrates with WordPress a lot easier and more dependably than Vanilla does.

Your old account will still work unless it was removed due to complete inactivity. You can login through WordPress here on my website’s front page, or directly via the forum - both access the same user information.

WordPress has been updated. Not surprisingly, this did not seem to affect the (non)functionality of the forum at all. I’m looking into finding another solution for the forum now.

Looks like the forum’s cookies are broken on the forum again. And again, nothing has changed so I don’t know why it happened. I might start looking into migrating to bbPress again because this is just getting ridiculous.

Please continue to pardon the appearance. I’m working on upgrading the forum and thinking about going with a whole new script that can be more easily integrated with Wordpress. Meanwhile, I’m still trying to get the site design the way I want it in my spare time, and looking at adding more features to the site as well.

I started writing up some content for the static pages on my site (about, contact, links). It’s not all there yet, but I’m working on it. Speaking of links, I need to gather up all of my links. Send me an email if I missed your site and I’ll add it.

I also started skinning my forum a bit more. Nowhere near 100% yet, but again, I’m working on it. I’m not sure that I’m happy with it, but it’s starting to resemble the structure of my website.
