I downloaded and installed the latest Gallery script this evening. I had been putting it off for far too many months because I had thought I lost all of my data during “the Great Data Loss of 2005″ when my old web host had suffered from a failed drive in my server… and I won’t get into the details again.

To make a long story short – I lost my old Gallery database, and I thought that as a result I had lost all of the comments, folders, albums, organization – all the hours that I put in to upload, sort, and categorize my photos.

Apparently not because – holy crap! It works!

Gallery – it rocks! I went through the setup and realized that there was a Gallery1 import module. I figured it was worth a try… And it SO was.

The gallery is back ONLINE! Enjoy!!!

I finally had the time to take a few minutes and update wordpress again… So that’s finally done.

For some reason, my email client on my Mac stopped letting me send emails from my elorg.net email addresses. I’ll have to investigate that – but it’s been happening for about a month? If you’ve sent an email to that address and haven’t gotten a reply back, that’s why. The replies are probably sitting in my outbox, complaining that it can’t send.

Sorry. I’ll post another update when I figured that one out.

I was going to try to fix my photo gallery, but it’s very demotivating to think about how many photos I already had imported, and all of the time I spent on organizing it, sorting through photos, and all of the visitor comments that were posted – all of which I lost during “the Great Data Loss from Ace-Host”. I was debating sticking with the phpGallery script that I’ve been using for a few years now, but now I’m tempted to go with something a bit more clean, simple, etc. – like Lussumo’s filebrowser.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

The down side to filebrowser is that I don’t think visitors can post comments. Though that’s not always a bad thing…

One more thing – I finally updated my webcam pic. I got my hair cut a little over a month ago. I cut almost all of it off. I was trying to see how long I could go without cutting my hair until I couldn’t take it any longer…

I have most of the basics done for the site design. I’m still tweaking it a bit. Then I have to finish adding content and skin the forum. My photo gallery broke when I moved it to the new server. I just need to re-set it up. I think there’s a newer version of the script out too, so I might try to upgrade it while I’m at it. So if you try to look at my photos and you get all kinds of mysql errors, etc., I haven’t had a chance to fix it yet.

Keep checking back.
