We don’t need two large screen TVs or quite so many DVDs. We’ve already donated 6 bags of old clothes that have been piling up in our closets for the last few years. Boxes have been piling up in our basement that we really should go through one of these days. And what are we doing with all of these now-ancient computer books on our shelves?

So – I’m engaged! It was all very exciting. We tried to hold off telling everyone but close family right away because we were going to use our annual BBQ bash the following weekend.

So telling family was exciting. But then.

I have no office to go in to – I’ve been working from home until they open a new office in the area. I don’t have many “girl” friends – especially not locally – so going into an office with women that know me was my opportunity to have that girly-squealing experience. Darn.

Then the majority of the people that attended the BBQ bash had already known about the engagement. A good portion of those who had not known about it were not able to make it. And to this day, there are still a few people who probably don’t know about it. So there was some excitement, but not as much as I had hoped for.

Moving on, I’ve decided on my Matron of Honor. I was ecstatic to hear that she was hoping that I’d ask her. To top it off, I’ve chosen another bridesmaid – though she lives on the Left Coast, so I wasn’t even sure if she’d be able to make it, let alone participate in it. But she was really hoping that I’d ask her too! Win! My third and probably final member of the bridal party would love to be a part, but may not be able to financially. There are a few other candidates, but it just wouldn’t be the same. So I may have a small bridal party – and I’m ok with that.

I’ve been kind of anxious to look for and find my dress. I’ve noticed that my taste has changed dramatically. That couldn’t possibly be because I’m *cough* older. I think I’m nervous to find my dress, and anxious to get started looking because I have such an odd taste in clothing and am not expecting to find a dress that’s “me” right away.

I’ve been looking around at online catalogs – even watched a streaming runway show. Omg – how uncharacteristic of me! I’m feeling all girly. It’s weird.

I’ve been trying to setup an appointment to try on dresses with my Matron of Honor, but both of our schedules with work are hectic these days. I ended up going on my own last weekend thinking “what the heck – I’ll give it a whirl. Could be fun, right?”

Totally lame.

The bridal salon lady was really sweet and trying to get me excited about the dresses (beautiful dresses) – but it just wasn’t the same. Thankfully I’m taking Monday off and will be having a “girls’ day out” with my Matron of Honor and have an appointment to look at dresses. (I can’t wait!!!)

It’s just odd. I’m not used to my wanting to seek these types of experiences. Normally, I’d rather chill out and read or watch a movie, or better yet, go to a LAN party than to want to jump around squealing about rings and dresses.

I never got my comic going and online by the deadline that I had set. I now have a very nice drawing table, but have yet to actually use it even once! I have 2 logos that I’ve been trying to work on, but haven’t had the time to sit down and work out the details so they’ve been set aside for far too long.

However, my brother moved back to the area, my best friend is finally married to a very wonderful person, we managed to have at least one BBQ (our now annual shindig), and…

All in all, I think it’s been one heck of a summer. ^___^

Cliff’s Notes version of this summer:
It’s been raining an awful lot so we haven’t spent much time outside. Thankfully we took this year off from gardening. Went to Chicago for the 4th (still have yet to fix up, resize & upload photos from that trip). VNV Nation concert in NYC a few weeks ago – always fun. Finally made it to Connecticon – got to meet the guys/gal from AppleGeeks, Johnny Wander, Questionable Content, and xkcd. Steve’s been traveling a lot for work. Leaving town to attend an old friend’s wedding in less than a month. Still haven’t finished renovating our bedroom.

I think that generically sums up everything that we’ve done. Not sure what’s in store for the Fall or Winter yet. Still trying to “get my sketch on” – and making progress! More on that soon I hope.

In case you were wondering – I don’t recommend falling down stairs. Even if it’s only a short few.

I’m quite the klutz. I’ve come to accept that fact over the years, but that doesn’t mean that I have to like it. Last night while preparing to go see Coraline, my slippers.. slipped out from under me and I tumbled down a couple of stairs. In an attempt to stop or slow my fall, I reached out onto the kitchen counter and pulled down a box filled with cans of vegetables which came tumbling down along with me. D’oh!

Only a scene that I could produce, I’m sure. lol I was on the phone at the time and I can only imagine what my friend thought as he heard the commotion, then suddenly “..I’m gonna have to.. call you back… [click]”

My other arm ended up with quite the little welt, scrapes, and I think I bruised the bone a bit. No blood thankfully. It feels a bit better now as long as I don’t touch it or lean on it. Meanwhile, the large welt and bruising on my butt… well, it’s so… glorious (I guess that’s a way of describing it) that I’m tempted to take a photo to document it! hahaha
